Casey Corbin

Ottawa’s Casey Corbin keeps up a long tradition of strong comedians coming out of the nation’s capital. He is following in the footsteps of legendary headliners like Mike MacDonald and Jeremy Hotz but also making a name for himself with a unique, extremely likable, down-home approach. In fact, he was nominated for Funniest Newcomer at the Canadian Comedy Awards in 2001 and 2002: the only person from Ottawa to enjoy a re-election in quite some time.

Casey was also handpicked by Harland Williams to open for the Just For Laughs produced “Tasty Treats” tour in 2005 and taped a CBC television special at the Halifax Comedyfest earlier this year which turned many network executive heads. This summer, Casey will get another chance at impressing networks as he competes in the coveted Homegrown Comedy Competition and hopes that audience polls will elect him to be our Homegrown leader!

Andrew Evans

Life outside of Nova Scotia is difficult for Andrew to understand. From the silly to the socially relevant, nothing escapes this sarcastic Maritimer’s look at big city and pop culture absurdities.

Shortly after moving from Dartmouth in late 2001, Andrew made an appearance on Open Mic with Mike Bullard where Mike likened him to “Don Harron”. Ben Guyatt of Comedy at Club 54 fame says, “Andrew has a fresh approach to comedy-combining the absurd with the cerebral, always resulting in a great solid set…I truly believe he will become a major, comedic force in the years ahead….”

Andrew

After winning the Laugh Resort’s funniest person with a day job competition in Toronto, Andrew was invited to perform for the first time at the prestigious Just For Laughs Festival in Montreal. He has since performed at the Halifax Comedy Fest and the Prince Edward Island Comedy Fest. He has made two appearances on Much Music’s hit show, Video on Trial, been recorded for CBC radio's "So you think you're funny?" and can be heard often on XM Radio's Laugh Attack.

Andrew will leave you laughing at him, yourself and the world around you. “… simply, Andrew is funny and a crowd favorite.” - Ben Guyatt

Carrie Gaetz

Carrie was destined to be a comedienne—and that becomes very clear the moment she steps on stage. A style not lacking in confidence, Carrie spins her tales of everyday life into the comedic fabric that surrounds you with laughter. A matter-of-fact approach, whipped up along with a side order of take-no-prisoners—Carrie does not disappoint.

Just two years into the business, Carrie has been showcased on CBC Radio's “So, You Think You’re Funny” and two episodes of "The Debaters". She has also just returned from her debut appearance at the Halifax Comedy Festival and her star is just beginning to rise. Carrie releases a relentlessly strong presence—coupled with one of the best stage voices—while always being funny. How funny? Hard to breathe funny. Nice.

Brian Hope

Brian grew up in a military family - living in Montreal, Moose Jaw, Red Deer, Sacramento, Winnipeg, Ottawa and Toronto. He's worked overnight in a gas station, served Queen Elizabeth II for dinner, joined the military for 5 years and got fired at Harvey's during his first week of work. As you can see, he doesn't have to write much as his life has material written all over it. He brought his craft onstage to Ottawa in March 2000 to see if he had the "right stuff". Started off on fire - and a wee bit tipsy. "I thought I would calm my nerves a bit by having a beer......let's just say I was REALLY calm by the time I got onstage". His first time up was one that he will never remember, but heard was hilarious.
